Dave Wooten has been a familiar and trusted voice on Southwest Montana radio for more than 12 years. Since 2014, he has been waking up country music fans in the Bozeman area, the last four as host of the KSKY Morning Show on K-SKY 106.9, blending humor, heart, community pride, and a deep love of the MSU Bobcats into Bozeman’s favorite radio show for the past ten years.
A radio veteran with more than two decades behind the microphone, Dave began his broadcasting career at his hometown radio station just one year after graduating from high school. What started as a first job quickly turned into a lifelong calling. Over the years, he has worked in a variety of radio markets, including San Francisco, Albuquerque, Green Bay, and Bend, Oregon, gaining experience that shaped his approachable, authentic on-air style—one that resonates strongly with Montana listeners.
Between radio gigs, Dave collected a few stories that don’t show up on a résumé. He worked as a tour guide at Universal Studios Hollywood, delivered scripts on the television shows Matlock and Jake & the Fatman, and famously once stood in Andy Griffith’s shower—a story he’s happy to tell, though the explanation is best heard in person.
Since arriving in Southwest Montana, Dave has become deeply invested in the community he serves. Through on-air fundraisers, food drives, and local initiatives, he has helped raise over one million dollars and countless pounds of food for area families and nonprofits. His commitment to community service and the values Montanans hold dear—hard work, generosity, and looking out for neighbors—has become a defining part of his career.
In 2023, Dave was honored to receive Montana’s Radio Broadcaster of the Year, and his morning show has been named Favorite Morning & Radio Show in both the Bozeman’s Choice and The Best of Bozeman Awards for the last ten years in a row.
Today, Dave Wooten continues to wake up Southwest Montana every weekend from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. with laughter, local insight and content, and country music—proving that great local radio is still built on connection, community, and showing up ready to serve the people on the other side of the dial.
