October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and KSKY 106.9 is asking the Kavalry to help us make a difference for Montanans fighting breast cancer.
What started as a spur-of-the-moment idea on the KSKY Morning Show has quickly turned into something much bigger.
We’re calling it Bras For a Cause, and our goal is simple:
Raise $10,000 for Pack the Place in Pink!
Pack the Place in Pink is a Montana organization founded by former Bobcat Vicki Carle and they provide financial assistance to Montanans battling breast cancer. We know breast cancer has touched a lot of families across the Gallatin Valley — including many members of the Kavalry — so when this idea came together, it just felt like the right thing to do.
And the response from local businesses has been incredible.
How Bras For a Cause Works
We’ll have approximately 15 to 20 locations throughout the Bozeman area where you can drop off bras.
Each participating business has stepped up and pledged “A Buck a Bra.”
That means:
- Bring a bra to one of our participating drop-off locations.
- Drop it into the big PINK donation bin.
- The participating business will donate $1 for each bra collected at its location (up to $1000)
- The money raised will benefit Pack the Place in Pink.
- Our overall goal is to raise $10,000 to help Montanans fighting breast cancer.
Pretty simple.
You bring the bras. Our Kavalry businesses bring the bucks. Together, we help Montana families fighting breast cancer.
When Can You Start Donating?
We’re putting the finishing touches on everything now.
- Monday: We’ll announce all of the official Bras For a Cause drop-off locations.
- Tuesday: The bra collection officially begins!
- Then it’s up to the Kavalry to help us start filling those pink bins.
So between now and Tuesday, start checking those drawers and closets!
Have bras you no longer wear? Bras that don’t fit anymore? Bras that somehow survived three closet cleanouts even though you haven’t worn them in five years?
We want them!
Guys, You Can Help Too!
Don’t have a bra to donate?
We figured that might be a problem for some of you.
You can still be part of Bras For a Cause by making a monetary donation directly to Pack the Place in Pink.
Every dollar helps support Montanans going through the financial and emotional challenges that come with battling breast cancer.
A Huge Thank You
We also want to give a big shout-out to L & L Site Services, which is providing brand-new PINK garbage cans for us to use as donation bins throughout the campaign.
And an enormous thank-you goes to all of the local businesses that have stepped forward to:
- Pledge A Buck a Bra
- Serve as collection locations
- Help spread the word
- Help us chase that $10,000 goal
And finally, thank YOU.
So many members of the Kavalry have already told us they’re ready to help.
On Monday, we’ll tell you where to take those bras.
On Tuesday, Bras For a Cause officially begins.
Let’s fill those pink bins and show once again what the Gallatin Valley can do when we rally around our neighbors.
$10,000. One bra at a time. Let’s do this, Kavalry!
